Chelsea vs Tottenham prediction
A place in the FA Cup semi-finals will be at stake when Chelsea square off against Tottenham at Wembley Stadium.
The Blues aim to bounce back from a 2-0 loss to Manchester United, but Sunday’s clash against high-flying Spurs will be anything but a walk in the park for Antonio Conte’s team.
Conte wants to win everything
Chelsea do not take part in European competitions this season and, as a result, they are on the right track to win the Premier League trophy. The Blues are leading the chase for the domestic title and thanks to a hard-fought 1-0 win over Manchester United they set up a meeting with Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup semis. Antonio Conte’s men, though, do not seem to be on top of their game at the moment and it has to be noted that they suffered two defeats in previous four league fixtures. Chelsea failed to impress in a 2-0 loss to Man Utd at the weekend and, no doubt, they are determined to get back on course. Both Eden Hazard and Diego Costa have been in a thrilling form this season and all eyes will be on the duo when Chelsea and Tottenham face each other at Wembley Stadium.
Thibous Courtois missed the Manchester United game with injury, but he should recover in time to face Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup. Coach Antonio Conte has no other selection worries.
Splendid form
Thanks to a 4-0 win over Bournemouth Tottenham Hotspur melted Chelsea’s advantage in the Premier League standings to four points. Spurs have been producing terrific performances in the national championship of late and they are high on confidence ahead of Sunday’s London derby in the FA Cup. Mauro Pochettino’s men have been scoring goals for fun in the second half of the season and trio Son – Alli – Kane looks unstoppable at the moment. Tottenham have defeated the likes of Aston Villa, Wycombe Wanderers, Fulham and Millwall on their way to the FA Cup semis, but they will have a much bigger fish to fry against Chelsea. In their last meeting in the competition the Blues crushed Spurs 5-1 and, no doubt, the White Hart Lane outfit are eager to get their revenge on the fellow capital club. It has to be noted that Tottenham are eyeing their fourth consecutive win away from home in the FA Cup.
Key attacker Harry Kane is fit and he is likely to lead the line for Spurs against Chelsea. The likes of Harry Winks, Danny Rose and Erik Lamela remain in the recovery room.
