Arsenal vs Manchester United prediction

Arsenal will be aiming to make amends for a 2-0 loss to their local rivals Tottenham Hotspur when they face Manchester United at their Emirates Stadium in yet another Premier League derby. The Red Devils are high on confidence following a 1-0 win over Celta Vigo in the Europa League and it remains to be seen if they are capable of beating Arsene Wenger’s troops in London.

Must-win game

Arsenal were desperate to grab something from the London derby against Tottenham Hotspur, but Spurs proved to be a big catch for Arsene Wenger’s team. The Gunners were beaten by the fellow capital club at White Hart Lane and, as a result, they have slim chances of booking their place in the Champions League. Arsenal occupy sixth position in the Premier League standings ahead of Matchday 36, but it has to be noted that they have two games in hand. Anyhow, Arsenal face a must-win situation in Sunday’s clash against Manchester United and they are likely to go all guns blazing at the Red Devils. Alexis Sanchez is undisputedly the team’s key player and all eyes will be on him when the two teams face each other in London.

The likes of Granit Xhaka and Santi Cazorla miss the game with injury, while summer signing Lucas Perez should recover in time to face Manchester United.

Red Devils brimming with confidence

Thanks to Marcus Rashford wonder free-kick goal Manchester United defeated Celta Vigo at Estadio de Balaidos in the Europa League semis, first leg. The Red Devils are with one foot in the final of the competition, but, on the other hand, they sit in fifth place in the Premier League standings ahead of Matchday 36. Jose Mourinho’s men are desperate to secure a top-four finish and, no doubt, Sunday’s game against Arsenal is of big importance for the visitors. Manchester United recorded four wins in previous five away fixtures in the Premier League and they did well to hold their bitter local rivals Man City in their last away game in the English top flight. Jose Mourinho’s team are likely to rely on their solid defence against Arsenal, but I believe that they will have a number of chances to attack the Gunners on the break.

Marcos Rojo, Luke Shaw and Zlatan Ibrahimovic remain in the recovery room, while attacker Marcus Rashford is rated doubtful for the Arsenal game. Marouane Fellaini misses the trip to London through suspension. Coach Jose Mourinho has no other selection worries.

Interesting facts

  • Man Utd scored 2+ goals in four of their last five away games in the league
  • Arsenal are after their third straight win at home in the Premier League
  • Red Devils are eyeing their fourth consecutive clean sheet on the road
  • Both teams scored in five of their last six meetings in all competitions
  • Alexis Sanchez has netted 19 goals in the EPL this term

Arsenal vs Manchester United betting pick

Both Arsenal and Manchester United are desperate to pick up all three points from Sunday’s showdown and a lively contest appears on the horizon. However, considering that Man Utd coach Jose Mourinho can’t count on key attacker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, I am tempted to put my money on the Gunners, who are eyeing their third consecutive win on home soil.

Pick: Arsenal to win

Odds: 9/10
