Barcelona vs PSG prediction
Barcelona need to overcome a four-goal deficit in the Champions League tie against PSG if they are to make it to the quarter-finals of the elite competition. Les Parisiens are with one foot in the next round, but the Catalan giants should not be written off just yet.
Against all odds, Barcelona were hammered by PSG (0-4) in the first leg at Parc des Princes and, as a result, the La Liga champions have no other choice but to go all guns blazing at les Parisiens in Wednesday’s clash at Camp Nou. Luis Enrique’s men have been in a splendid form in the national championship of late and the “MSN” trio looks unstoppable at the moment. Barca rolled over the likes of Sporting Gijon and Celta Vigo in previous two league fixtures and, no doubt, they are brimming with confidence ahead of the visit of PSG. The Catalan outfit need to score an early goal in the second leg if they are to keep their hopes of advancing to the Champions League quarter-finals alive and, one thing is for sure, the hosts will leave their hearts on the field in order to try and overcome the deficit.
The likes of Jeremy Mathieu, Andre Gomes and Aleix Vidal remain in the recovery room, but there are no suspended players in the home team. Rafinha is likely to replace Andre Gomes in the starting line-up.
Paris Saint Germain rolled over Barcelona at their Parc des Princes, but they have yet to get their job done in the tie against the star-studded La Liga side. Les Parisiens aim to defend their big lead in Wednesday’s showdown at Camp Nou and I believe that the visitors will adopt a cautious approach in the return leg. Unai Emery’s men head into the game following a hard-fought 1-0 win over Nancy in the national championship and it has to be noted that the Ligue 1 champions managed to keep five clean sheets in last five games in all competitions. PSG are likely to rely on their rock-solid defence in the second leg, but preventing Barca attackers from scoring at Camp Nou is easier said than done. Edinson Cavani impressed in the first leg, meaning that the opposition back-line should have the Uruguay international at bay in Wednesday’s clash. The former Napoli attacker has netted 37 goals in all competitions so far this season.
Angel Di Maria and Adrien Rabiot are both doubtful, whereas Javier Pastore is fully fit and he is likely to start the match. Midfielder Thiago Motta misses the return leg with a thigh injury.
- PSG are after their first ever win at Camp Nou
- Over 3.5 goals were scored in four of last five meetings between PSG and Barca
- Barcelona scored 11 goals in previous two home fixtures in La Liga
- Les Parisiens netted 2+ goals in last three away games in the Champions League
- Barca are after their 15th consecutive win at home in the Champions League
Barcelona vs PSG betting pick
Barcelona are likely to go all-out attack against PSG in the Champions League last 16, return leg and given their thrilling form, I am positive that the hosts will emerge triumphant in Wednesday’s game. However, seeing that the Catalan giants experienced all sorts of problems at the back in the 4-0 loss to Unai Emery’s troops in the “City of Lights”, they are unlikely to overcome the deficit.
