Chelsea vs Leicester City prediction
Chelsea and Leicester City face each other at Stamford Bridge on the last day of the season. The Foxes have already clinched the domestic trophy, but their pride will be at stake in Sunday’s game against the capital club.
Season to forget
Chelsea failed to defend their Premier League trophy and, to make things even worse for the fans, the Blues will not take part in the European competitions next season. The Blues will, at least, finish the season in the top half of the standings and they certainly want to finish the 2015/2016 Premier League campaign on a high. Guus Hiddink’s men produced a fine performance in Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool, but Christian Benteke’s late goal eventually spoiled Chelsea’s party at Anfield. Unlike previous years, Chelsea have been struggling at their Stamford Bridge this season, with the team recording only one win in previous nine home games in the Premier League. Guus Hiddink’s men played out a 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur in their last home fixture in the national championship and it has to be noted that Eden Hazard’s goal ruined Tottenham’s title hopes.
Diego Costa, Kurt Zouma and Loic Remy are all out of contention through injury, while Branislav Ivanovic and Willian are both rated doubtful. John Terry, who has extended his contract with Chelsea, misses the Leicester City game through suspension.
Foxes aim to put icing on the cake
Surprising Premier League champions Leicester City outclassed Everton 3-1 at the weekend, with the team once again proving their worth. The Foxes clinched top position in the Premier League standings and they are ten points clear of second-placed Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the last day of the season. Claudio Ranieri and his men should take Sunday’s game against Chelsea very seriously as their pride will be at stake this time out. The good news for the fans is that top scorer Jamie Vardy should be fit to face the Blues at Stamford Bridge and all eyes will be on him when the two teams face each other in the last match of the season. Leicester City recorded three wins in last four away games in the Premier League and it is no surprise the Foxes are regarded as favourites to win Sunday’s clash.
Important defender Robert Huth misses the Chelsea game through suspension, but he is the only absentee in the away side. Danny Drinkwater served his ban against Everton and he is likely to be recalled to the starting line-up.
