Cleveland Cavaliers vs Charlotte Hornets prediction
Cleveland Cavaliers will be aiming to retain top position in the Eastern Conference when they square off against Charlotte Hornets at their Quicken Loans Arena on Sunday. Cavs managed to bounce back from a shocking loss to Atlanta and they want to give fans yet another reason for celebration.
Promising start
Cleveland Cavaliers did remarkably well to win the 2015/2016 NBA title, with the team beating star-studded Golden State Warriors in the finals. Cavs aim to defend their trophy and they made a fine start to the season. Tyronn Lue’s men have recorded seven wins, while suffering a loss to Atlanta Hawks in the NBA this term and the title holders will be looking to build on a 105-94 win over Washington Wizards when they take on Charlotte Hornets on Sunday. Cleveland Cavaliers were beaten by Atlanta in their last home game and they will certainly give their all to return to winning ways at their Quicken Loans Arena. Kyrie Irving impressed in the triumph over Washington Wizards, scoring 29 points, while adding six assists in the Verizon Center clash. LeBron James has been in a fine form of late as well and he is likely to make life difficult for Hornets.
Coach Tyronn Lue has no fresh injury worries ahead of the Charlotte Hornets game and he there is every chance James, Love, Thompson, Irving and Smith will start the match.
Four wins in last five games
Charlotte Hornets have been producing fine performances in the NBA this season. Steve Clifford’s team have suffered no more than two defeats in the league so far, but they head into Sunday’s game against Cleveland Cavaliers following a 113-111 loss to Toronto Raptors. DeMar DeRozan proved a handful for Hornets, but it has to be noted that Kemba Walker scored 40 points for Charlotte in the defeat to Toronto. Walker looks unstoppable at the moment and all eyes will be on him when Steve Clifford’s men face Cleveland Cavaliers at Quicken Loans Center. Hornets are eyeing their fourth consecutive win on the road and you should bear in mind that they defeated the likes of Milwaukee Bucks, Miami Heat and Brooklyn Nets in previous three away games. Nonetheless, the fact that they suffered six defeats in previous seven meetings with Cavs is not giving fans a reason for optimism ahead of the trip to Ohio.
The likes of Jeremy Lamb and Michael Kidd-Glichrist are both sidelined with injury, but coach Steve Clifford has no other selection worries ahead of Sunday’s game.
Quick facts

- Kemba Walker scored 61 points in total in previous two games in the NBA
- Cavs scored 105+ points in each of their last five home games
- Hornets are after their fourth straight win on the road
- LeBron James has been averaging 23.4 points this season
Cleveland Cavaliers vs Charlotte Hornets betting pick
Cleveland Cavaliers enjoy playing against Charlotte Hornets. Steve Clifford’s troops recorded only one win in previous seven meetings with Cavs and seeing that they were beaten by Toronto Raptors on Friday, I believe that there is a big value in betting on the NBA champs this time out. Tyronn Lue can count on all of his starters for Sunday’s game and there is every chance the visitors will return home empty-handed.
Pick: Cleveland -8.5
Odds: -110
