Leicester City vs Manchester United prediction

After failing to impress in their final warm-up game against Everton, Manchester United will be looking to give fans some cheer when they take on Premier League champions Leicester City in the Community Shield at Wembley Stadium.

Foxes eager to claim yet another major scalp

Against all odds, Leicester City did well to win the 2015/2016 Premier League trophy, with the team leaving the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and Manchester United behind them in the standings. Even though many people expected that the club chiefs would sell all key players Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez in the summer transfer window, the duo has yet to leave the club. Pacey attacker Musa has recently joined the King Power Stadium outfit and the former CSKA ace proved his worth in a 4-2 loss to Barcelona, scoring twice against the Catalan giants. Leicester City failed to impress at the 2016 International Champions Cup, but they are certainly capable of making life difficult for Manchester United in the Community Shield. As before, all eyes will be on aforementioned duo Vardy – Mahrez when the two teams take on each other at Wembley Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Matty James is likely to miss the match with injury, while summer signings Ahmed Musa, Mendy and Hernandez are all likely to play some part in Sunday’s clash against Manchester United.

A new beginning

Manchester United experienced all sorts of problems under Louis van Gaal last season, with the team failing to book their place in the Champions League qualifiers. Despite helping the Red Devils win the FA Cup trophy, the Dutch tactician eventually got fired, with Jose Mourinho taking over the reins. The “Special One” is eager to make a great squad for the upcoming season and new signings Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are widely expected to help the team improve their game. Nonetheless, Man Utd failed to impress in their final warm-up game against Everton, with the English giants failing to make a decent opportunity to score in the goalless draw with the Toffees. It is well known that Jose Mourinho wants to win everything and no doubt the former Chelsea boss is going to field the best possible side against Leicester City. Ibra is likely to lead the line for the Red Devils against Claudio Ranieri’s troops.

Jose Mourinho has no fresh injury worries ahead of the clash and he is likely to field the same starting XI that faced Everton in Wayne Rooney’s testimonial. Juan Mata, though, could be recalled to the starting line-up.

Interesting facts

  • Leicester City won their first and only Community Shield title in 1971
  • Foxes conceded exactly four goals in previous two warm-up games
  • Manchester United are after their fourth consecutive win in Community Shield

Leicester City vs Manchester United betting pick

Leicester City and Manchester United seem to be evenly matched at the moment and there is every chance we will see a close encounter at Wembley Stadium. Given the attacking potentials of the two teams, I would not be surprised if both Leicester and Man Utd find the net in the 2016 Community Shield. Both teams scored in each of their last four meetings in the Premier League and taking everything into account, both teams to score bet appears on the cards.
