Liverpool vs Manchester United prediction
There will be fireworks when two bitter rivals Liverpool and Manchester United square off against each other at Anfield. The Reds are eyeing their fifth consecutive win in the Premier League, but Jose Mourinho’s men should not be written off just yet.
Excellent form
Liverpool kicked off the new Premier League campaign in style, with the team defeating Arsenal at Emirates Stadium in their opener. However, the Reds suffered an upsetting 2-0 loss to Burnley on Matchday 2 and many people expected that the team would continue to struggle in the national championship. However, Jurgen Klopp’s men got back on course as they recorded four consecutive wins in the league following a 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane. The Reds came from behind to beat Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium in their last league fixture and, no doubt, they are high on confidence ahead of Monday’s derby against Manchester United. Liverpool are likely to stick to their attacking style of play as a win in the Premier League derby could see them climb to top position in the standings. It has to be noted that Jurgen Klopp’s team scored nine goals in previous two home games in the Premier League.
Mamadou Sakho and Joseph Gomez remain in the recovery room, while Dutch midfielder Wijnaldum should be fit to play against Manchester United. Adam Lallana is rated doubtful.
Ups and downs
Manchester United chiefs have pumped up a lot of money into the squad over the last few transfer windows, but the Red Devils have been playing below expectations in the 2016/2017 Premier League campaign. Big-money signing Paul Pogba has been struggling to find his best form and, no doubt, he is under big pressure ahead of the Premier League derby. Manchester United head into Monday’s showdown following a 1-1 draw with Stoke City, but you should bear in mind that Jose Mourinho’s men missed a number of clear-cut chances to score in the Old Trafford clash. The Red Devils rolled over Leicester City in their last home game, but the English giants need to keep on raising their form if they are to stay in the race for the title. Zlatan Ibrahimovic failed to impress against Stoke City, but the Swedish forward is widely expected to lead the attack for the visitors against Liverpool.
Phil Jones misses the match with injury, while Luke Shaw and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are both doubtful and the duo will be assessed on the match day. Anthony Martial could be recalled to the starting line-up after finding the net against Stoke City.

Liverpool vs Manchester United betting pick
Liverpool have been in a much better form than Manchester United of late, but it is well known that Jose Mourinho loves big matches. The Red Devils are widely expected to adopt a cautious-approach in Monday’s derby and I believe that we will see a low-scoring affair this time out. The Reds are tough to beat at home and, taking everything into account, under 2.5 goals should be scored in the Anfield showdown.
Pick: Under 2.5 goals
Odds: 11/10
