Manchester United vs Tottenham Hotspur prediction
Manchester United will be looking to start a new winning run in the Premier League when they welcome Tottenham Hotspur at their Old Trafford. The Spurs rolled over Swansea City in their last league fixture, but they face an uphill task in Sunday’s showdown against Jose Mourinho’s troops.
Three-game winless run
Manchester United owners pumped up a lot of money into the squad in the summer transfer window, but the Red Devils have yet to find their best form. After playing out back-to-back draws with the likes of Arsenal and West Ham United, Jose Mourinho’s men shared the spoils with Everton in their last league game as well. Nonetheless, many people believe that Manchester United should have pick up all three points from the Goodison Park clash. The Red Devils dace a must-win situation against Tottenham and, no doubt, the “Special One” is going to field the best possible side against Mauro Pochettino’s team. Zlatan Ibrahimovic found the net in a 2-0 win over Zorya in midweek and the Swedish ace is likely to lead the line for the hosts against Spurs.
Chris Smalling is unlikely to be risked against Tottenham, while Luke Shaw should be fit to start. Jose Mourinho has no other selection worries ahead of Sunday’s Premier League match. Summer signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan should keep his place in the starting line-up after he found the net in the 2-0 win over Zorya.
Five reasons for optimism
Tottenham Hotspur did well to make amends for a 2-1 loss to Chelsea in the London derby, with the team rolling over Swansea City in their last league fixture (5-0). Harry Kane has found his goal-scoring touch and I believe that Manchester United defenders are likely to have their work cut out for them when facing the England attacker. The Spurs aim to build on the triumph over Swansea as a win over Jose Mourinho’s charges could see them climb to the Champions League berth. Mauro Pochettino’s team, though, are on a seven-game winless run on the road in all competitions and that is the main reason why away victory should not be considered. Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen scored a brace in the 5-0 win over Swans and he will be yet another man to watch in the away team.
Attacker Vincent Janssen has yet to overcome his ankle problem, whilst pacey winger Erik Lamela misses the Manchester United game with a hip injury. Toby Alderweireld should be recalled to the starting line-up after coming as a substitute in the Champions League game against CSKA.

Both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur aim to stay in the race for the title and I am positive that both teams will go for a win in Sunday’s Premier League derby. Seeing that coaches Jose Mourinho and Mauro Pochettino can count on key players for the Old Trafford clash, I am tempted to put my money on both teams to score.
