Memphies Grizzlies vs Golden State Warriors prediction
Golden State Warriors will be looking to record their first win over Memphis Grizzlies in the 2016/2017 NBA season when the two teams face each other at FedExForum on Friday evening. Steve Kerr’s men are hungry for revenge, but they will have to prove their worth on the court.
Six wins in last seven games
Memphis Grizzlies are on the right track to book their place in the NBA play-offs. Grizzlies sit in sixth place in the Western Conference and they have been in a thrilling form of late. David Fizdale’s team recorded six wins in previous seven league games and it has to be noted that they outclassed San Antonio Spurs at their FedExForum (89-74) on Monday. Memphis are likely to rely on their rock-solid defence in Friday’s clash against Golden State Warriors and it remains to be seen if they are capable of recording their third consecutive win over Steve Kerr’s men. Marc Gasol is enjoying a season to remember and the Spanish center, who has been averaging 20.8 points this season, will be the man to watch in the home team.
Zach Randolph missed the Phoenix game with injury and he is a major doubt. Vince Carter returns to contention after the veteran was rested in the 110-91 victory over Suns. Coach David Fizdale has no fresh injury worries ahead of the visit of Golden State Warriors.
Thrilling performance against Bulls
Golden State Warriors did well to bounce back from a 109-106 loss to Sacramento Kings. The last season’s runners-up outclassed Chicago Bulls at home on Wednesday (123-92) and they are now on a quest to get their revenge on Memphis Grizzlies. Steve Kerr’s men have already suffered two losses to David Fizdale’s team this season and I am positive that the visitors will leave their hearts on the court in Friday’s showdown. Klay Thompson scored 28 points in the 123-92 victory over Bulls, while fellow “splash brother” Stephen Curry added no more than 13 points in Golden State’s last league game. Kevin Durant has been averaging 25.7 points this season and he is definitely capable of making life difficult for Grizzlies defence. Golden State’s away record is anything but impressive and the visitors will have to be on top of their game against Grizzlies if they are to start a new winning run on the road.
Zaza Pachulia misses the game with a shoulder injury, while David West is a major doubt and he will be assessed on the match day.
Interesting facts
- Golden State scored 100+ points in previous 13 away games
- Memphis recorded four wins in last five home games
- In their last meeting in the league Stephen Curry scored 40 points
- Warriors conceded 100+ points in last five away matches
- Klay Thompson has been averaging 21.5 points this season
Memphis Grizzlies vs Golden State Warriors betting pick
Golden State Warriors suit Memphis Grizzlies and that is more than obvious. Grizzlies came from more than 20 points behind to beat Warriors at Oracle Arena in January, but defeating Steve Kerr’s charges for the third time in a row is easier said than done. As I have already said, Golden State are hungry for revenge and that is the main reason why I am tempted to put my money on the Western Conference leaders.
Pick: Golden State -7.5
Odds: -110
