Minnesota Timberwolves vs Golden State Warriors prediction

Golden State Warriors will be looking to make amends for a shocking 86-99 loss to Boston Celtics when they take on Minnesota Timberwolves at Target Center. Tom Thibodeau’s men are still in the race for a place in the NBA play-offs and they are likely to leave their hearts on the court in Friday’s showdown against the star-studded visitors.

Important win over Clippers

Despite producing a fine display against San Antonio Spurs in their last away game in NBA, Minnesota Timberwolves eventually suffered a loss to Gregg Popovich’s team after overtime. The Timberwolves, though, gave fans some cheer on Wednesday evening, with the team beating Los Angeles Clippers at their Target Center. Minnesota recorded three wins in previous four league games and, as a result, they managed to keep their hopes of making it to the Western Conference play-offs alive. Karl-Anthony Towns led Tom Thibodeau’s team to the 107-91 win over Clippers as he scored 29 points in Wednesday’s clash, while adding 14 rebounds. Fellow star player Andrew Wiggins has been in a fine form of late as well, meaning that Golden State Warriors should have the duo at bay.

Adreian Payne is a major doubt and he will be assessed on the game day, while Zach LaVine is out for the rest of the season. Center Nikola Pekovic remains on the sidelines as well.

No Durant, no party

Golden State Warriors have been struggling to find their best form ever since USA superstar Kevin Durant suffered a serious injury. Steve Kerr’s troops suffered a 99-86 loss to Boston Celtics on Wednesday, but they remained in top position in the Western Conference. The Warriors aim to return to winning ways and I am positive that they will take Friday’s game against Minnesota Timberwolves very seriously. In Kevin Durant’s absence, all eyes will be on the Splash Brothers (Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry), but the game against the in-form Timberwolves will be anything but a walk in the park for the visitors. Golden State defeated the likes of New York Knicks and Atlanta Hawks in previous two away games in NBA, but they will have to be at their sharpest against Minnesota if they are to extend their winning run on the road. Anyhow, the fact that they suffered their last defeat at Target Center back in 2011 is giving fans a reason for optimism.

Aforementioned ace Kevin Durant could miss the rest of the season with injury, but the former Oklahoma City Thunder man is the only absentee in Steve Kerr’s team ahead of the trip to Minneapolis.

Interesting facts

  • Minnesota recorded three wins in last four home games in NBA
  • Warriors have not suffered a loss to Minnesota on the road since 2011
  • Klay Thompson scored 30 points in a 116-108 win over Minnesota earlier this season
  • Golden State are eyeing their third consecutive win over Timberwolves
  • Warriors scored 100+ points in 20 of their last 21 league games

Minnesota Timberwolves vs Golden State Warriors betting pick

Both Minnesota Timberwolves and Golden State Warriors are hungry for a win. The hosts aim to stay in the race for a place in the play-offs, whereas the visitors are desperate to get back on course following the upsetting loss to Boston Celtics. A high-scoring match appears on the horizon and seeing that 224 points were scored in their last meeting in the league, I am tempted to put my money on over 219 points.

Pick: Over 219 points

Odds: -110
