Sacramento Kings vs Los Angeles Lakers prediction

Sacramento Kings will be looking to build on back-to-back wins over the likes of New Orleans Pelicans and Toronto Raptors when they face Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday. Lakers have been playing above expectations this season and it remains to be seen if they are capable of spoiling Sacramento’s party at Golden 1 Center.

Kings raising their form

Following four consecutive defeats Sacramento Kings did well to return to winning ways in NBA on 7 November, with the team beating Toronto Raptors on the road (96-91). To make things even better for the fans, Kings outplayed New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday evening and they will be looking to extend their winning run to three games when they take on Los Angeles Lakers at their Golden 1 Center. DeMarcus Cousins scored 50 points in previous two games and he is likely to make life difficult for Lakers in Thursday’s clash. Sacramento Kings are after their third home win of the season after they defeated Minnesota Timberwolves and New Orleans Pelicans in previous two home games. Rudy Gay has been in a fine form this season and he will be yet another man to watch in Dave Joerger’s team.

Anthony Tolliver has been struggling with injury of late and he will be assessed on the match day. Coach Dave Joerger has no other fresh injury worries ahead of the visit of Lakers.

The unpredictable Lakers

Against all odds, Los Angeles Lakers outplayed star-studded Golden State Warriors at their Staples Center (117-97), but they head into Thursday’s game against Sacramento Kings following a 97-109 home defeat to Dallas Mavericks. Lakers are sitting in the play-off places in the Western Conference, but they need to keep on improving their game if they are to finish the season in top eight. It seems as if Luke Walton’s men produce much better performances against top-table teams and it remains to be seen if they are capable of recording their second away win of the season. You should have in mind that Lakers have already suffered defeats to the likes of Utah Jazz, Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana Pacers on the road this season. When Lakers faced Sacramento Kings in a warm-up game on 14 October Dave Joerger’s men emerged triumphant, meaning that Luke Walton’s troops are hungry for revenge.

Larry Nance is definitely out of contention with injury (concussion). Marcelo Huertas did not enter the court against Dallas Mavericks (coach decision) and he is unlikely to play against Kings.

Interesting facts

  • Kings emerged triumphant in nine of their last ten meetings with Lakers
  • Lakers conceded 113+ points in each of their last three games on the road
  • Sacramento scored 102+ points in previous two home matches
  • DeMarcus Cousins has been averaging 25.8 points this season
  • In their last meeting at Golden 1 Center 233 points were scored (118-115)

Sacramento Kings vs Los Angeles Lakers prediction

Sacramento Kings have overcome the crisis, but they do not want to stop now. DeMarcus Cousins and Co. are eager to extend their winning run in the league and seeing that Los Angeles Lakers have been anything but impressive on the road this season, I am tempted to put my money on Dave Joerger’s team. Taking everything into account, home win appears on the horizon.

Pick: Sacramento Kings -4.5
