Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool prediction

Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool face each other in the Premier League derby at Wembley Stadium. Boths sides aim to stay in the race for the title and a lively contest appears on the cards.

Three-game winning run

Following a routine 4-0 win over Huddersfield Town Tottenham Hotspur defeated Bournemouth at their Wembley Stadium thanks to Christian Eriksen’s goal. The capital club sit in third position in the standings ahead of the visit of Liverpool and they are eyeing their fourth consecutive win in the national championship. Harry Kane failed to impress in the 1-0 win over Bournemouth, but the team’s top scorer is likely to pose a big threat for the opposition defenders in Sunday’s clash at Wembley Stadium. Tottenham have been producing much better performances on the road than at home ground this season, but they are definitely capable of finding the net in the Premier League derby. Dele Alli missed the Real Madrid game through suspension, but he is likely to start against Liverpool. Tottenham have been in a fine form of late and they are likely to grab something from Sunday’s match.
Victor Wanyama and Erik Lamela are both sidelined with injury, whilst fellow midfielder Mousa Dembele should recover in time to face Liverpool. Ben Davis has overcome his injury and he is widely expected to return to the starting line-up.

Better performances than results

Liverpool played out a 1-1 draw with Newcastle United at St. James’ Park on Matchday 7 and despite producing a splendid display against Manchester United at the weekend, they eventually shared the spoils with their bitter rivals. The Reds are eager to return to winning ways in the Premier League and seeing that they are nine points behind league leaders Manchester City ahead of the trip to London, this has to go down as a must-win game for Jurgen Klopp’s men. Liverpool are likely to stick to their attacking style of play and there is every chance the visitors will play with three footballers up front: Coutinho, Firmino, Salah. It has been three years since Reds recorded their last win over Spurs in London and it remains to be seen if they are capable of putting an end to the negative trend. In Sadio Mane’s absence, a man to watch in the away team will be aforementioned ace Philippe Coutinho, who was determined to leave the club in the summer transfer window.

Nathaniel Clyne, Sadio Mane and Adam Lallana remain in the recovery room, but coach Jurgen Klopp has no fresh injury worries ahead of the Tottenham game.
